Our Story

The Pear Jellyfish Foundation was born from a deeply personal adoption journey. Before becoming our daughter, a newborn baby girl was safely surrendered under Florida's Safe Haven Law. As is customary when a child enters care, they are given an alias to conceal anonymity. The name chosen for her, Pear Jellyfish. 

What was intended to be a temporary identifier became a lasting reminder of the courage of a birth parent, the importance of safe haven surrender laws, and the life-changing gift of adoption.

Today, the Pear Jellyfish Foundation exists to honor that story by helping other children find permanent, loving families. 

What we do

The Pear Jellyfish Foundation works to:

  • Raise awareness about adoption and Safe Haven Laws.

  • Connect families with adoption resources and support networks.

  • Partner with community organizations, businesses and donors to expand access to adoption opportunities.

Why this matters

Adoption expenses can place a significant financial burden on families who are willing and able to provide loving homes. Legal fees, agency costs, travel expenses, home studies, and other adoption-related requirements can create barriers that delay or prevent adoptions. 

The average cost of domestic adoptions within the US in 2025 was around $50,000.

By helping offset these costs, the Pear Jellyfish Foundation seeks to make adoption more accessible and help more children find their forever families.
